How are the Carolina Panthers looking from an offensive standpoint following the team’s successful 2022 NFL Draft?
The 2022 NFL Draft has come and gone and what a weekend it was. The entire process became full of excitement and intrigue, surprises, and quick picks in which the Carolina Panthers had limited capital to work with but made the most of it.
Coming into this year’s draft it was much of the same in the need department. Quarterback and reinforcements on the offensive line.
While there wasn’t a true top-tier quarterback to be taken this year, there was still the chatter of the Panthers reaching for one of the more developmental types that were available if a deal could not be made for ousted Cleveland Browns starter Baker Mayfield.
However, with a severely depleted well of picks from which to draw thanks to multiple trades, general manager Scott Fitterer had to be smart with each and every selection the team had.
Say what you will about certain free agent signings and trades that have become a bit of a black mark. But if there is one thing that Fitterer is a master of, it’s the draft.
That aside, the Panthers’ offense of last season was nothing short of a disaster. The protection couldn’t stop a particularly swift breeze, whoever was under center was a turnover machine, and the coaching wasn’t much better.
There were some truly excellent free-agent signings this offseason, at least on paper, but there were still massive holes in need of filling. So let’s take a look at how the Panthers’ offensive position groups grade out after an eventful draft weekend.
