Arcimoto founder Mark Frohnmayer entered a diversion program in Eugene Municipal Court Monday after being charged with driving while intoxicated last month.

The incident preceded the three-wheel electric vehicle company removing Frohnmayer as CEO and making him the company’s chief vision officer.

Frohnmayer was cited in lieu of an arrest for DUII just after 10 p.m. July 15, according to Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin.

Police were dispatched to the area of Fifth Avenue and Mill Street in Eugene for reports of a possibly intoxicated driver. He allegedly drove to the location on a three-wheeled motorcycle, McLaughlin said.

Arcimoto announced that Frohnmayer was moved from his role as CEO in a news release Aug. 12.

As part of his diversion, Frohnmayer is required to attend a victim impact panel, a substance or alcohol abuse treatment program, and to use an ignition interlock device on his vehicle that requires him to pass a breathalyzer test before driving.

The diversion program lasts one year. If he completes it, the charges are dismissed. Frohnmayer was required to enter a guilty plea Monday as part of the program, which would be recorded if he does not complete the diversion. He was also required to pay a $490 fine.

Jesse Fittipaldi, formerly the company's vice president, has been appointed interim CEO.

Asked if Frohnmayer had additional comment on the DUII incident, a company spokesperson said Arcimoto would not speak on personal matters. The company has not made clear the reason for the leadership change.

Frohnmayer will continue as the chairman of the company’s board.
